Airsoft Resources
Some resources!!
First about the bullets damage, read this
http://www.btammolabs.com/fackler/wounding_patterns_military_rifles.pdf
and about the suppressors, read these:
http://www.americancopmagazine.com/articles/silenceIsGolden/index.html
http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/pgrfnbr/564/sesent/00
and I mean really read them, don't just skim over them.

The Silencer Argument
First things first. Silencers remove the vast bulk of the noise and the bullet is subsonic. Suppressors supress the noise from the shot and the bullet is still going super sonic, you can still hear the sonic boom. Neither of the two will increase accuracy. You guys who think they do are completely wrong. The supressor increases length yes, but it does NOT increase the amount of rifling that contacts the bullet as it travels towards it's target. The supressor may give you an advantage because the noise isn't as loud and the recoil isn't as sharp. If one of the disks is off in the suppressor the suppressor will also SEVERELY decrease accuracy. It will slow a bullet down a bit though, from between 1000fps all the way to over 500fps. The MP5SD series uses holes drilled in the rifling of the barrel to release the gases into integral baffles that also reduce the speed of the bullet. A standard MP5 using a screw on suppressor will be much noisier.
It is also true that a faster bullet can do more damage then a slower bullet, IF they are the same weight. Most of the discusions about 7.62x51mm(similar to .308 Winchester) and 5.56x45mm(similar to .223 Remington) are comparing them, they arent the same. The standard round used by the 7.62x51mm is a 147 grain full metal jacket projectile going at around 2600-2800 feet per second. The 5.56x45mm round fires a 55 grain projectile at around 3300-3400 feet per second, or a 62 grain projectile at about 3100 feet per second. For a carbine length the performance is reduced by quite a large margin, the 5.56 out of a 10 inch barrel is usually around 2400 feet per second.
this is one side of the silencer arguement on whether silencers affect the distance rating or valocity of a gun/ dmg and i researched and here are my results for the side of the arguement that says no it does not read and argue it!! i personally do think they affect the gun but i looked and here is why i guess im wrong
the other side of the arguement part 1: To fire a bullet from a gun, gunpowder is ignited behind the bullet. The gunpowder creates a high-pressure pulse of hot gas. The pressure of the gas forces the bullet down the barrel of the gun. When the bullet exits the end of the barrel, it is like uncorking a bottle. The pressure behind the bullet is immense, however -- on the order of 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi) -- so the POP that the gun makes as it is uncorked is extremely loud.
part 2: A silencer screws on to the end of the barrel and has a huge volume compared to the barrel (20 or 30 times greater). With the silencer in place, the pressurized gas behind the bullet has a big space to expand into. So the pressure of the hot gas falls significantly. When the bullet finally exits through the hole in the silencer, the pressure being uncorked is much, much lower -- perhaps 60 psi. Therefore, the sound of the gun firing is much softer. So basily the silencer decreses ur guns dmg. I don't know of they do it in the game.!!!!!!!!
OVERALL ANSWER:
In Real Life:
1. Reduce Recoil
2. HAVE NO EFFECT ON ACCURACY
3. Reduce Muzzle Flash
4. Reduce Gunshot Sound
5. Irrelevant but reduce inhalation of harmful fumes from the gunshot
